Listening

  • Duration:
    30 minutes
  • Question Type:
    Candidate listen to a number of recorded text with increasing difficulty as the test progresses. These include a mixture of monologues and conversations and feature a variety of English Accents.
  • No of Questions:
    4 Sections with 40 questions.

Academic Writing

  • Duration:
    60 minutes
  • Question Type:
    The first task to write a description of 150 words based on the materials found in graphs, chart, tables and diagram and should demonstrate their ability to present information and summarise the main features of the input.
  • No of Questions:
    2 Tasks -150 words and 250 words.

Speaking

  • Duration:
    11-14 minutes
  • Question Type:
    Test takes the form of face to face interview. Candidates are assessed on their use of spoken English to answer short questions, to speak at length on a familiar topic and also to interact with the examiner.

  • Qualifying Subjects:
    Candidates from any discipline who wish to study in an English-speaking country can take this test.

The Listening, Reading and Writing components of the test are always completed immediately after each other and in this same order. The Speaking test can be taken up to 7 days either before or after the test date.
