On 16 July 2026, Prince Edward Island (PEI) conducted its biggest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw of the year, inviting 195 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.
This continues PEI’s clear and consistent strategy of selecting people who are already living and working in the province in occupations facing labour shortages.
Draw Highlights
Invitations were issued under two streams:
- Labour Impact Category
- PEI Express Entry
Priority was given to international graduates from PEI’s three post-secondary institutions:
- University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)
- Holland College
- Collège de l’Île
Every PEI PNP draw in 2026 so far has followed this same approach — focusing on candidates already contributing to the local economy and giving preference to graduates of these three colleges.

With the exception of the March draw, PEI has stuck closely to its published 2026 invitation schedule.
Upcoming PEI PNP Draws
PEI is one of the few provinces that publishes its draw calendar in advance. The remaining scheduled dates for 2026 are:
- 20 August
- 17 September
- 15 October
- 19 November
- 17 December
These dates are tentative and for guidance only. PEI can hold draws earlier, later, or add extra rounds if needed. So far in 2026, the province has largely followed its published schedule.
How to Be Considered for the Next PEI Draw
To receive an invitation, candidates must:
- Create a profile in PEI’s Expression of Interest (EOI) system.
- Score points based on language ability, education, work experience, job offer in PEI, and alignment with provincial labour needs.
Higher-scoring profiles with strong ties to PEI (especially current employment or local education) have a better chance of being selected.
After receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA), candidates have 30 calendar days to submit a complete provincial nomination application. Successful nominees can then apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence.
What This Means for Aspiring Immigrants
PEI continues to show steady demand for workers already in the province and for international graduates who studied there. The rising invitation numbers (from 26 in January to 195 in July) indicate the province is actively using its allocation to retain talent.
