Canada Holds Largest Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Draw Since March 2026 4,000 ITAs Issued!

In a significant boost for Express Entry hopefuls, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 4,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw on June 23, 2026. This marks the largest CEC-specific draw since March 17 this year, bringing renewed hope to thousands of candidates already building their lives in Canada.

The draw targeted candidates in the Express Entry pool with Canadian work experience. To qualify, applicants needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 516. Additionally, their Express Entry profiles must have been created before 12:03 a.m. UTC on April 14, 2026. This round, the 32nd Express Entry invitation of the year, highlights IRCC’s continued emphasis on retaining talent already integrated into the Canadian workforce.

Why This Draw Matters

The Canadian Experience Class pathway is especially popular among international students and skilled workers who have completed their studies or gained valuable post-graduation work experience in Canada. With a CRS cut-off of 516, this draw offers a more achievable target compared to some Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws that often require scores above 700. It signals that candidates with solid Canadian experience, language proficiency, and education credentials remain competitive.

Throughout 2026, IRCC has prioritized in-Canada candidates. The majority of draws have focused on individuals with Canadian work history or provincial nominations rather than those applying from outside the country. This strategy supports Canada’s goal of addressing labor shortages while helping temporary residents transition to permanent status.

2026 Express Entry Trends at a Glance

So far this year, Canada has conducted multiple targeted draws across various categories. Here’s a summary of recent CEC draws:

  • June 23, 2026: CEC – CRS 516 – 4,000 ITAs
  • May 27, 2026: CEC – CRS 518 – 3,000 ITAs
  • April 28, 2026: CEC – CRS 514 – 2,000 ITAs
  • April 14, 2026: CEC – CRS 515 – 2,000 ITAs
  • March 17, 2026: CEC – CRS 507 – 4,000 ITAs

Total ITAs issued in 2026 (up to June 23): Approximately 84,796. Out of these, Canadian Experience Class accounts for the highest share at 41,250 ITAs, demonstrating a strong preference for this stream.

Other notable categories in 2026 include French-language proficiency draws (which have issued over 30,000 ITAs), Provincial Nominee Program selections, and targeted occupations such as healthcare, trades, and senior management roles.

What Should Candidates Do Next?

If you received an ITA in this draw, congratulations! You now have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residence. Ensure all supporting documents — including work experience letters, language test results, educational credentials, and proof of funds (if applicable) — are accurate and up-to-date.

For those who missed this round, focus on improving your CRS score. Key factors include:

  • Enhancing language skills (higher CLB scores in English or French)
  • Gaining additional Canadian work experience
  • Securing a provincial nomination (worth 600 CRS points)
  • Improving education credentials or obtaining a valid job offer

Even a small increase in your score can significantly boost your chances in future draws.
