🇨🇦 Leadership Change in Canadian Immigration
The May 13 draw was the last under former Immigration Minister Rachel Bendayan. Moving forward, Lena Metlege Diab will lead IRCC as Canada’s new Immigration Minister, following Prime Minister Mark Carney's cabinet reshuffle.
With this leadership transition, new immigration priorities are expected, including:
- Capping new permanent residents at 1% of Canada’s population by 2027
- Boosting Francophone immigration
- Revamping the Global Talent Stream (GTS)
- Reducing temporary resident (work/study permit) volumes
More details will follow with the release of Minister Diab’s official mandate letter.
