Manitoba Issues Invitations to Skilled Workers in Its Latest Provincial Nominee Program Draw

Manitoba held its second Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw of August this week, extending invitations to skilled foreign workers through its Skilled Worker Stream. This marks the province’s 17th draw of the year under the MPNP.

The draw occurred on August 21 and covered both the Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas pathways. A total of 77 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued. Among these, 18 went to candidates who had provided valid Express Entry profile numbers along with job seeker validation codes. The lowest-ranked candidate in Expression of Interest Draw #252 had a score of 612.

LAAs by Recruitment Initiative

Invitations were distributed according to the following strategic recruitment initiatives:

  • Employer Services: 6 LAAs

  • Francophone Community: 29 LAAs

  • Regional Communities: 31 LAAs

  • Ethnocultural Communities: 11 LAAs

These initiatives help Manitoba target skilled candidates who fulfill labour market needs critical to specific communities or sectors.

The MPNP also urges candidates who met or exceeded the 612-point threshold but did not receive an invitation to review their application details. Two common issues include submitting a language test without a valid test reference number (or with expired results), or indicating an initiative-based invitation without including a proper invitation number in their Expression of Interest.

What Are Strategic Recruitment Initiatives?

Strategic recruitment initiatives are targeted efforts led by employers or community organizations to attract skilled international candidates with specialized abilities. To participate, employers must meet eligibility standards and complete Manitoba’s ABC Recruitment process. Once approved, they may submit information on qualified international candidates to Manitoba’s Employer Services team.

To be considered, applicants must meet stream-specific criteria—such as requirements related to age, education, work experience, and language proficiency—and demonstrate the capacity to settle in the province.
