Newfoundland and Labrador has invited 245 candidates to apply for permanent residence through its provincial immigration programs.
The draw, held on March 30, 2026, marks the second selection round of the year for the province. Invitations were issued under two pathways: the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
Draw Breakdown
| Program | Invitations Issued |
| Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) | 209 |
| Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) | 36 |
| Total | 245 |
Approximately 85% of the invitations went to candidates in the NLPNP. The province’s Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) did not specify which NLPNP streams the invitations targeted.
Comparison with Earlier Draws
This round issued fewer invitations than the first draw of 2026, which took place on March 6 and resulted in 445 invitations (362 through NLPNP and 83 through AIP).
For context, the equivalent early-year draw in 2025 (held on April 3) issued 206 NLPNP and 50 AIP invitations.
Year-to-date total (as of March 30, 2026):
- 690 invitations overall
- 571 through NLPNP
- 119 through AIP
How the Process Works
Since February 2025, both the NLPNP and AIP in Newfoundland and Labrador have operated on an Expression of Interest (EOI) system.
Candidates submit a short EOI form that captures key details such as occupation, education, language proficiency, and their intention to live in the province. The OIM then reviews EOIs and invites the strongest candidates to submit a full application.
Invited candidates (or their employers) must submit a complete application within 60 days. EOIs remain valid for 12 months.
A valid job offer is generally required for both programs (with the exception of the NLPNP Entrepreneur streams).
2026 Nomination Outlook
Canada significantly increased its overall provincial immigration targets for 2026. Newfoundland and Labrador’s exact 2026 nomination allocation had not yet been officially released at the time of this draw. In 2025, the province received a total of 2,525 nominations (2,050 NLPNP + 475 AIP) after a mid-year adjustment.
What This Means for Candidates
Newfoundland and Labrador continues to actively recruit skilled workers to support its economy. While the March 30 draw was smaller than the March 6 round, the province has issued substantially more invitations early in 2026 compared to the same period last year.
Candidates with strong profiles — particularly those with job offers in the province — are encouraged to submit an EOI and monitor future draws closely.
