Alberta’s Provincial Nominee Program continues to focus on attracting law enforcement professionals. The province recently conducted its fifth draw of 2025 under the Law Enforcement Pathway, part of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).
Details of the Latest Draw
On August 19, 2025, Alberta issued a small round of invitations through the Alberta Express Entry stream’s Law Enforcement Pathway. Fewer than 10 invitations were sent out, with a remarkably low minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 45.
This marks one of the lowest cut-offs seen in an AAIP draw this year, making it a notable opportunity for qualified candidates.
About the Law Enforcement Pathway
The Law Enforcement Pathway was introduced in June 2024 to help local police services in Alberta address rising recruitment needs and strengthen public safety.
To qualify, candidates must:
-
Have a valid job offer from an employer that is a member of the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police, and
-
Meet all federal Express Entry eligibility criteria.
Occupations eligible under this pathway include:
-
Commissioned and non-commissioned police officers,
-
Police investigators and other investigative roles, and
-
Specialized law enforcement occupations in public protection services.
Progress So Far in 2025
According to AAIP updates as of August 27, 2025:
-
Alberta has an annual allocation of 20 nominations through the Law Enforcement Pathway.
-
11 nominations have already been issued this year.
-
9 nominations remain available for the rest of 2025.
-
There are currently 123 candidates in the Expression of Interest (EOI) pool awaiting consideration.
What This Means for Candidates
The latest draw shows Alberta’s ongoing commitment to supporting law enforcement agencies with skilled immigration. With less than half of the annual allocation still available, interested candidates who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to submit their EOIs as soon as possible.
The province continues to prioritize critical sectors through three specialized Express Entry pathways:
-
The Dedicated Health Care Pathway,
-
The Accelerated Tech Pathway, and
-
The Law Enforcement Pathway.
Final Note
The low CRS cut-off score of 45 in this latest round emphasizes Alberta’s urgent demand for qualified law enforcement professionals. For candidates with the right job offer and background, this represents a timely opportunity to secure provincial nomination and move closer to permanent residence in Canada.
