On June 19, 2025, Prince Edward Island (PEI) conducted its sixth Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw of the year, inviting a total of 52 candidates through three immigration streams.
Breakdown of Invitations:
- Labour Impact & Express Entry: 51 invitations
- Business Impact – Work Permit Stream: 1 invitation
This draw marks PEI’s first entrepreneurial invitation of 2025 under the Business Impact Category.
Targeted Occupations & Sectors
PEI continues to focus on key industries aligned with its economic and labour market priorities. Due to a limited number of nomination spaces and the province’s evolving workforce needs, invitations are being issued to skilled workers in high-demand sectors, including:
- Healthcare
- Skilled trades
- Manufacturing
As of this draw, PEI has issued 621 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through its PNP in 2025.
How to Qualify for PEI’s PNP
To be considered, candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI), selecting their preferred immigration stream. Candidates are assessed based on a range of factors such as:
- Language proficiency in English or French
- Education level, field of study, and location of completion
- Relevant work experience and skills
- Alignment with PEI’s current labour market priorities
- Job offers from PEI employers or previous Canadian work experience
EOI submissions are ranked in a pool, and top-ranking candidates receive invitations to apply for a provincial nomination.
Business Impact Category – Work Permit Stream
In this latest draw, one ITA was issued to an entrepreneur under the Work Permit Stream.
This stream targets foreign nationals looking to invest in and manage a business in PEI. Applicants must first come to the province on a work permit and actively run their business for at least one year before becoming eligible for a provincial nomination.
Eligibility Criteria Include:
- Minimum net worth of CAD $600,000
- Language ability at CLB level 4 or higher
- Ownership or management experience in a business
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Intention to live and work in PEI while managing the business
- Age between 21 and 59 years
Candidates under this stream are evaluated using a points-based system, with a maximum of 210 points available.
