Alberta Issues Over 1,000 Invitations in Latest PNP Draws

In a major move, Alberta’s immigration authority recently issued over 1,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through its Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). This marks one of the largest draws of the year and underlines the province’s strong push to attract qualified workers and professionals.

Summary of the Latest Draws

Between September 12 and 19, Alberta held three separate draws under the AAIP:

Draw Date Stream Cut-off Score Invitations Issued
Sept. 12 Alberta Opportunity Stream 63 1,113
Sept. 16 Accelerated Tech Pathway (Express Entry) 55 320
Sept. 17 Law Enforcement Route (Express Entry) 56 < 10

In total, 1,433 invitations were extended across these draws.

  • Alberta Opportunity Stream led with 1,113 invitations, indicating strong focus on applicants already working in Alberta.

  • The Accelerated Tech Pathway, targeting tech professionals, issued 320 ITAs with a relatively low cut-off of 55 points.

  • The Law Enforcement Route received fewer invitations, reflecting its more specialized nature.

What These Streams Mean

Alberta Opportunity StreamDesigned for temporary foreign workers already contributing to Alberta’s workforce, this stream prioritizes individuals with full-time job offers from approved employers in the province. It remains one of the most active and accessible pathways under AAIP.

Accelerated Tech PathwayThis stream is meant for tech professionals either already working in Alberta or holding job offers in eligible tech occupations. Its low cut-off score signals the province’s intent to strengthen its digital talent base.

Law Enforcement PathwayThis route is specialized for candidates with job offers from police services or law enforcement agencies in Alberta. Although invitation numbers are more modest, it reflects the province’s strategy to fill critical roles in public safety.

Allocation & Remaining Spots

As of late September, Alberta had issued 3,983 nominations out of its original cap of 4,875. This leaves 892 slots available for the remainder of the year. However, with recent approval from the federal government, the provincial allocation has now been increased to 6,403 nominations — an additional 1,528 slots to use this year.

This boost expands Alberta’s flexibility in meeting labour market demands and responding to regional priorities.

What This Means for Applicants

  • Applicants with job offers in Alberta — especially in tech, skilled trades, or law enforcement — have a strong chance under upcoming draws.

  • The cut-off scores (55–63 in recent draws) suggest the province is maintaining a balance: selective, but with opportunities for well-qualified candidates.

  • With extra nomination slots now available, more candidates may receive invitations before year-end.

If you’re considering applying under Alberta’s PNP or upgrading your profile, now is an opportune time to get your documentation, job offers, and eligibility in order.
